The Department of Chemistry at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in physical chemistry.
The primary mission of the OSU Department of Chemistry is to provide a program of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral education in chemistry and to conduct research and scholarly activities focused on areas of chemistry important to human health, materials and the environment. The department offers PhD and MS degrees in Chemistry and has a rapidly growing student body, including 200 undergraduate majors. Some areas of research that would complement our department include the use of existing or new experimental methods, including spectroscopy and microscopy/imaging, from NMR to X-ray, to study biomolecules or materials (surfaces, interfaces, and/or condensed phases), or advancing new theoretical frames of analysis and modeling.

The College of Science comprises 16 academic departments and programs that offer 17 disciplinary degrees, containing 45 options among them, as well as 11 pre-professional options. Science is one of the university’s largest academic units with approximately 300 faculty, 465 graduate students, 2796 undergraduate students, and 100 management service and classified personnel. Additionally, these faculty and students collaborate in three of the university’s world-class research centers, namely the Linus Pauling Institute, the Environmental Health Sciences Center, and the Center for Genome Research and Biocomputing.
