Job Details

The Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry, NIDDK, NIH, is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure track or tenure-eligible position in chemistry or chemical biology. Interested candidates will develop a vigorous and innovative independent research program, or have a demonstrated track record of research excellence, with biomedical relevance and may be complementary to ongoing research in the NIDDK Intramural Program and the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry. Current research areas include structural and functional targeting of membrane receptors; design and discovery of new antibiotics; synthesis of small molecule therapeutics; and engineering of carbohydrates, proteins and oligomers for diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines. Our research addresses a host of diseases including diabetes, cancer, bacterial and viral infections, and pain.

The NIH Intramural Program provides a highly interactive and interdisciplinary environment conducive to carrying out high risk research and provides access to clinical collaborators and state-of-the-art core facilities.

Applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and have demonstrated expertise in the chemical sciences and a record of achievement. Applicants may be U.S. citizens, resident aliens, or non-resident aliens with, or eligible to obtain, a valid employment-authorization visa.
