Job Details

The Chemistry Department at Ursinus College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning Fall 2020. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry who are committed to a career at a primarily undergraduate institution that emphasizes excellence in both teaching and research.  The position includes teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in organic chemistry (six courses each year), establishing an active research program involving the supervision of undergraduate research students, and providing academic advising to majors and first-year students. The successful candidate will also teach in our Common Intellectual Experience, the college’s interdisciplinary freshman liberal studies seminar. More information about the position can be found at www.ursinus.edu/jobs

The Ursinus College faculty is a diverse community of teacher-scholars dedicated to providing transformative experiences for a diverse student body in a highly reflective process embedded in our core curriculum. All faculty members are expected to be similarly reflective. Therefore, applicants are requested to submit a cover letter, CV, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and separate statements reflecting on (1) teaching experience, practices, and goals, (2) proposed research plans, and (3) experience and commitment in support of an inclusive community. All applications must be submitted electronically to apply.interfolio.com/66210. Full consideration will be given to applications received by September 30, 2019, but review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Queries may be sent to the Search Committee Chair at chemchair@ursinus.edu
