Job Details

The Department of Chemistry at Brandeis University is seeking a creative individual at the assistant professor level for a tenure-track faculty position in either experimental physical chemistry or chemical biology. Exceptional candidates at the associate professor level in all areas of chemistry will also be considered. The successful applicant is expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program and be an enthusiastic teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Chemistry is part of a vibrant and interactive scientific community.  A research-intensive liberal arts university, Brandeis fosters highly collaborative science both within and between departments.  The campus is located in Waltham, MA, the heart of the Rte. 128 biotechnology corridor and 20 minutes from Boston and Cambridge. For information about the department, visit http://www.brandeis.edu/chemistry/.

Applicants should upload their CV including a list of publications, a description of their research plans, and a statement of teaching experience and philosophy to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/14241.  Applicants at the assistant professor rank should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted to Academic Jobs Online.  Inquiries may be sent to the co-chairs of the search committee, Professors Isaac Krauss (kraussi@brandeis.edu, chemical biology) and Klaus Schmidt-Rohr (srohr@brandeis.edu, experimental physical chemistry).  First consideration will be given to applications received by October 15, 2019.  This position is subject to budget approval.

At Brandeis, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential components of academic excellence, and we welcome applications that address these concepts in the context of teaching, scholarship or service.  Brandeis University is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer that is committed to creating equitable access and opportunities for applicants to all employment positions. Because these values are at the core of Brandeis’ history and mission, we are seeking candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including those that have been underrepresented in higher education, who possess skills that spark innovation and bring expertise in building, engaging, and sustaining a pluralistic and just campus community.
