Polymer Engineering and Science Tenure-Track Faculty Position

 

Penn State Behrend invites applicants for a tenure-eligible Engineering faculty position starting Fall 2019 at the rank of either Associate Professor or Professor. The candidate will be expected to lead the curricular, administrative, and cultural development of the newly proposed undergraduate Polymer Engineering and Science (PES) Program and teach undergraduate courses in the area. The candidate should maintain an active research program and lead intra-campus program development per the Behrend Research Strategy. A candidate with experience transitioning academic research to commercial application and technical expertise in Polymer Mechanics, Polymer Composites and Rheology is preferred. The candidate must be willing to mentor junior faculty and have a strong existing network in both the academic and industrial polymer communities that can lead to collaborative research programs. Applied research and collaboration with local industry are highly valued as part of Penn State Behrend's Open Lab initiative. Candidates with prior teaching and/or industrial experience are valued. A Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Polymer Science, or a closely related field that is obtained prior to the start date, is required.
