Job Details

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in the area of organic chemistry. Initial appointment to this position will be for a term of four years, beginning fall semester of academic year 2020-21, and will carry the rank of Assistant Professor.

The incumbent will teach 4.5 courses per year in the general areas of organic and introductory chemistry.

The incumbent will also be expected to engage in sustained scholarly, peer-reviewed research, including with undergraduate students, and may engage in other creative work appropriate to the position. The successful candidate will contribute actively to the life of the Department in the full range of faculty responsibilities, including academic advising, as well as service on College committees.

Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by the first semester of the academic year 2020-21). Postdoctoral experience is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentored research. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
