Position Title:  Assistant/Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry

Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry (Inorganic)

East Stroudsburg University (ESU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry, beginning in August of 2020.  Primary responsibilities include the organization and teaching of the General Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses. In addition, the candidate will teach Inorganic Chemistry courses for the major. Teaching responsibilities may also include courses for non-majors as well as other advanced courses within the chemistry programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate highly effective teaching and enthusiasm for student advising and the mentoring of a diverse population of undergraduates. An active research program in any area of chemistry, involving undergraduate students, is expected. Faculty at ESU are also expected to serve the University by participation in activities to include, but not limited to, committee memberships, curriculum development and outreach. Interest or experience in Secondary Education chemistry teacher preparation would be valued. A Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry or a closely related field must be completed prior to appointment; but candidates with ABD status at the time of application may be considered.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry or a closely related field prior to appointment. 

Preferred Qualifications: All areas of specialty within the scope of Inorganic Chemistry will be considered. Previous experience teaching inorganic and/or general chemistry is preferred. A strong publication record in the area is desirable, as is experience in obtaining research grant funding. Experience (or demonstrated interest) in departmental curriculum and course development is desirable. The successful candidate will be a skillful educator who demonstrates the ability to apply the necessary skillset (including classroom technologies), flexibility and dedication to successfully teach courses at a broad range of level, class-sizes, with students of diverse backgrounds, preparation and professional goals.
