Senior Research Associate, Peptide Synthesis Core

We are seeking a self-motivated and ambitious Senior Research Associate with strong work ethic and leadership qualities to join our new research and clinical production facility in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The facility is being developed as a Center of Excellence for the advancement of novel TCR mediated T cell therapies targeting tumor mutations and antigens.

 

Reporting to the Lead Scientist, you will contribute to and work in the Peptide Synthesis Core Facility which supplies internal R&D teams as well as external collaborators with synthesized peptide libraries.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

• You will contribute to the daily operations of the internal core facility for peptide synthesis. Tasks include, but are not limited to, planning and execution of necessary peptide synthesis projects, QC of synthesized peptides, generation and maintenance of production records, management of chemical supplies and maintenance of laboratory equipment, such as peptide synthesizers and LC-MS

 

• You will collaborate with external service providers to fulfill any specific needs in the area of peptide synthesis

 

• You will ensure compliance of the core facility activities with any applicable local, state and federal law

 

• Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

 

• A Bachelor/Master Degree in Chemistry (or related) with at least 3 years of experience in the area of peptide chemistry

 

• Expert knowledge in and demonstrated hands-on experience in automated peptide synthesis and QC of synthesized peptides (in particular by LC-MS), including related data-analysis and generation of production records, ideally in an industry or core-facility setting.

 

• Proficiency with a variety of equipment relating to peptide chemistry is expected

 

• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility and high attention to detail

 

• Strong organizational and record keeping skills

 

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment

 

• Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
