Positions:  Two non-tenure track faculty positions are available in the Department of Chemistry at Truman State University, a top-ranked public liberal arts and sciences university.

Position A: Successful candidates will provide classroom instruction primarily in organic chemistry courses with opportunities in introductory chemistry classes, courses that support the liberal arts and sciences, as well as in upper-level chemistry courses.
Position B: Successful candidates will provide classroom instruction in introductory chemistry classes, courses that support the liberal arts and sciences, as well as in upper-level chemistry courses.

The ability to teach across chemistry sub-disciplines is beneficial for both positions.  These assignments will begin in January of 2020.  Both positions require a Ph.D. (completed by the start date) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.  The successful applicants will have the opportunity for annual renewal (9-month contracts) based on performance, department need, and funding.

Applicants will be evaluated on academic qualifications; support for the liberal arts and sciences mission of the University; teaching philosophy and experience; demonstrated potential for success in teaching chemistry courses; evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills; and compatibility with the department’s needs.

Program: The Department of Chemistry is part of the School of Science and Mathematics at Truman State University. The Department has 17 faculty members, and approximately 140 undergraduate majors, graduating approximately 25 American Chemical Society - certified B.S. chemistry majors yearly.  The Department, in conjunction with the Department of Biology, introduced a new Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major beginning Fall 2018.  In addition, the Department provides classes to support more than 750 biology, agriculture, and health-related majors. The Department also offers courses in Truman’s Liberal Studies Program (LSP) and opportunities for faculty members to pursue interdisciplinary teaching and research exist within the School and as part of the LSP.
