The Department of Chemistry at the Technische Universität Darmstadt invites applications for a position as
Assistant Professor (W1) for „Conformation-Sensitive Mass Spectrometry“
(Code No. 519)

The position will be part of the research cluster “TRABITA” of the LOEWE excellence initiative of the state of Hesse, which starts in 2020. In TRABITA, transient binding pockets in therapeutically relevant proteins are investigated with the aim to systematically identify these transient binding pockets and to more efficiently develop drug-like molecules for them.

The candidate is expected to establish an independent research profile, which uses mass spectrometry-based chemicalbiological approaches to identify or characterize new protein ligands or protein binding pockets. The newly established research group should further intensify the collaborations within TRABITA and within the Department of Chemistry as well as the interactions with the Department of Biology of the TU Darmstadt and the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Goethe University Frankfurt.

The successful candidate will participate in teaching within the different study programs of the Department of Chemistry, e.g. the courses Biomolecular Engineering.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in the above or a related area. The experience as post-doctoral researcher should not exceed a total of 4 years. The prerequisites according to § 64 Abs. 3 HHG apply.

The assistant professorship is designed as qualification professorship as per § 64 HHG. An option for tenure-track is not given. The position is initially limited to six years. Remuneration follows the German W-Besoldung at level W1 Hessisches Besoldungsgesetz.

The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference.

The Technische Universität Darmstadt is certified as a family-friendly university and offers a dual career program.

Applications mentioning the code-no. are to be sent electronically as a single pdf file (<10MB) to the Dean of the Department of Chemistry, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Alarich-Weiss-Straße 4, D-64287 Darmstadt, dekan@chemie.tu-darmstadt.de. This should include a curriculum vita together with a publication list, copies of the five most relevant publications, a research concept, information on current third party funding, and a record of teaching activities. Please direct your inquiry to Prof. Dr. Felix Hausch (hausch@drugdiscovery.chemie.tu-darmstadt.de).
