Title: Faculty position in cryo-EM at Iowa State University
The Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa seeks a new tenure-track assistant or associate professor with expertise in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to establish a vibrant, externally funded research program of international prominence. The department recently received a large philanthropic gift from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust to establish a state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility and recruit a facility director and multiple new faculty members. The facility, to be operational in the summer of 2020, will house a Thermo Scientific Glacios Cryo TEM equipped with a Gatan K3 Camera, joining an existing JEOL 2100 TEM equipped with Gatan OneView Camera. The successful candidate will have priority access to this facility as part of their start-up package. The Cryo-EM Facility will expand on the exceptional structural biology, biophysical, and computational resources that have been developed as part of an ongoing structural biology initiative at ISU.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with demonstrated expertise in the area of cryo-EM structural determination. The candidate will be expected to participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching. Review of application materials will begin on October 15, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.
