Job Description:

 

The Department:

The Chemistry Department offers an inclusive, engaged learning environment with small classes where women and gender non-conforming students are encouraged to break barriers to STEM fields.

 

The Position:

We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Chemistry specializing in analytical and/or inorganic chemistry. Appointment will begin August 1, 2020. The successful candidate will have evidence of exemplary teaching, publications and potential for scholarly research that will impact their field, and a proven track record of mentoring diverse undergraduate students. The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the sciences including Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell & Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, Public Health & Health Equity, and the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program. Candidates who can support the major in Environmental Science as well as the Chemistry major are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidate may teach such classes as General Chemistry I and II, Analytical Chemistry, and/or Inorganic Chemistry. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching 18 credits per year, advising approximately 25 students, and other departmental and college service. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is required by the start date of August 2020. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

• Ph.D. in chemistry or an aligned field in hand at time of appointment

 

• Potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching

 

• Research plan that will be productive and include undergraduates
