The A.R. Smith Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences at Appalachian State University invites applications for a Lecturer in Chemistry. Qualifications for this position include M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry; applicants with degrees in related fields to chemistry will be considered if they have a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in chemistry. This position is open to any chemistry discipline. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all Master’s or Doctoral requirements by May 2020. The successful candidate will teach 15 contact hours per week in undergraduate laboratories and/or lectures. Primary instructional duties will be introductory chemistry, however, additional classes in the candidate’s field may be requested. The candidate will hold office hours for students and perform the normal duties associated with teaching. Teaching assignments may be adjusted depending upon departmental needs and qualifications of the successful candidate. Candidates will be expected to engage in relevant service activities. Throughout their teaching and service duties the successful applicant should promote diversity, inclusive excellence, and best practices for safe chemistry.
