The Department of Chemistry at San José State University invites applications for tenure-line faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2020. Excellence in research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected. Research in computational chemistry with applications to biomedical, analytical, organic, environmental or other fields that complement the current faculty in the department. The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in one or two of the sub-disciplines of chemistry. Teaching duties may include upper division undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses, and graduate lecture courses. Some teaching in general and/or introductory chemistry may be required. The successful candidate will develop a robust research program engaging primarily undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students. Ph.D. in chemistry or equivalent is required, postdoctoral experience is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
