The University of Arizona Health Sciences in Tucson seek an outstanding scientist in the general area of medicinal chemistry/chemical biology with emphasis on developing therapeutics for treating chronic pain, substance abuse, and/or addiction.
The successful candidate should have a strong track record of scholarly productivity, training and expertise in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, and demonstrated ability to secure independent, peer-reviewed funding such as NIH grants. Applicants working on pain and addiction related drug discovery are particularly encouraged to apply.
This chemist will work closely with a large preclinical and clinical pain and addiction research group in the Department of Pharmacology in the College of Medicine (COM) as well as with the drug discovery group in the Arizona Center for Drug Discovery in the College of Pharmacy (COP) to take lead compounds from the bench-side into preclinical and clinical studies. The candidate will also be expected to produce strong peer-reviewed publications, and gain competitive federal grants. The individual would participate in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Graduate Training Program.
