Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry (https://www.usfca.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Chemistry starting in August 2020. Our ACS-certified department offers a BS in Chemistry, a BS with Biochemistry concentration, a BS with Medicinal/Synthetic Chemistry concentration, and a thesis-based MS in Chemistry. The department is supported by a full-time stockroom manager, organic lab coordinator/NMR manager, instrumentation specialists, and a science safety officer. The University of San Francisco is a Catholic-Jesuit institution that blends the liberal arts and professional preparation, emphasizing quality teaching and student learning. The University serves a diverse group of students on a residential campus near Golden Gate Park.

 

Full Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

Teaching duties will include a combination of biochemistry I & II lecture, biochemistry lab, general chemistry lecture & lab, and either inorganic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. The successful candidate will develop curricula, participate in departmental governance, serve the university community, establish a laboratory-based research program that engages both BS and MS students, and demonstrate a willingness to seek external funding.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. A strong record of teaching undergraduates, evidence of scholarship, and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University of San Francisco are required. Candidates must be able to teach and conduct research in a primarily undergraduate institution. Postdoctoral experience is highly desired.
