The primary professional responsibilities of this tenure-track faculty position are teaching courses in the undergraduate analytical program, broadly defined, as well as graduate courses in the faculty member's area of expertise; preference may be given to candidates with environmental or green chemistry background; additional teaching assignments may include general and/or service chemistry courses; taking an active role in departmental and campus activities; mentoring students in research and other scholarly activities; seeking extramural funding for the faculty member's own scholarly work and/or programs that further the mission and goals of the Department of Chemistry.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have earned a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field by the position start date
- Must show evidence of ability to be an excellent teacher at all levels
- Must show evidence of ability to conduct independent research involving undergraduate and MS graduate students
- Possess superior teaching abilities
- Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities
- Demonstrated commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the university philosophy.

The primary professional responsibilities of tenured and tenure-track faculty members are teaching, scholarship and service.
Teaching:
Classroom and laboratory instruction in analytical, environmental and general chemistry curriculum; preparation of course materials including activities, assignments, and assessments; supervision of student teaching assistants, as applicable, including weekly meetings; and other activities benefiting students' academic development. Faculty member will also be expected to teach graduate level courses in their area of expertise.
Scholarship/Creative Activity:
Mentoring research with undergraduate and/or graduate students in the chemistry department, building a research program that demonstrates national or international recognition as evidenced by publications and external funding during tenure period at CWU. Presentation of research by the faculty member and CWU students at regional, national or international professional conferences is encouraged.
Service:
Faculty members is expected to participate in departmental and university service activities as related to their interests and expertise. This could include participation in accreditation and/or program development; work on recognized administrative, department, college, school or university committees; and other tasks as deemed necessary by the department and university. Professional service is expected and can include serving on grant, journal or accreditation review board, or as an ad hoc reviewer, in the faculty's area of expertise; serve as an officer in a professional society; organize and/or chair conferences, symposia and seminars.
