Corteva Agriscience is looking for a responsible and highly motivated Research Scientst to join the Protein Analysis Mass Spectrometry Team! Protein Analysis Mass Spectrometry in Applied Science & Technology (AST) is focused on utilizing mass spectrometry for high throughput target protein quantifications in transgenic plants.  This person will: perform LC-MS/MS method development/validation; research and implement process improvements; and complete high throughput sample and data analyses with a focus on providing cost effect, quality results to our clients.  

The duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and/or validate LC-MS/MS methods for target protein quantifications in plant tissues and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Troubleshoot existing assays as needed.
  • Perform sample analyses including high throughput sample extraction, preparation and LC-MS/MS analysis. 
  • Analyze and summarize experimental results by preparing reports.
  • Track core metrics including turnaround and quality.
  • Follow good laboratory procedures (GLP) and prepare related support documentation.
  • Design, perform, evaluate process improvement experiments.
  • Client interactions may include new assays discussions, pre-planning for studies and final data considerations. 
  • Perform routine maintenance and trouble-shooting for UPLC, mass spectrometers and other laboratory equipment. 
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members.
  • Promotion of a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related field or master’s degree in similar field(s) and equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on experience in operating LC-MS/MS instruments is essential. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Strong writing, speaking, organizational and computer skills are needed. 
  • Working experience with protein analysis/quantitation is beneficial. 
  • Programming experience related to data analysis, process tracking and/or automation processes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with AB Sciex Analyst or MultiQuant software is preferred, but not required.
