About the Opportunity:

 

The College of Science at Northeastern University is seeking candidates for up to two tenure-track faculty positions at assistant, associate or full professor rank in the fields of Quantum Biophysics and Quantum Biochemistry. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, quantum phenomena in biological systems, novel quantum devices having biological relevance, and biologically inspired quantum materials. Both theoretical and experimental approaches are invited. Candidates are sought with research interests in emerging sub-areas that can both close gaps and strengthen existing expertise within the College of Science and the wider university, as well as interface with the local academic and biotechnology environment. Candidates may be considered for either the department of Physics or the department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Applications will be reviewed by a joint committee from both departments. Review of applications will start Nov. 1 and continue until suitable candidates are identified.

 

Responsibilities:

 

The potential hire(s) are expected to develop vigorous research programs cross-cutting the fields of chemistry, chemical biology, physics, and/or materials science. Specifically, the ideal hires will strengthen ties between the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and the Department of Physics, building upon existing strengths in in theoretical and experimental biophysics, computational chemistry, bioimaging, biosensors, and bionanotechnology.

 

Qualifications:

 

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related field by the start of the appointment and a record of research commensurate with rank.

 

Salary Grade: FAC
