The Department of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (chem.utk.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Materials Chemistry with a focus on the synthesis of polymeric, inorganic, or hybrid materials. This position has an anticipated start date of August 1, 2020. Appointment at the rank of assistant professor requires a PhD in chemistry or a closely related field; at least one year of post-doctoral research experience is preferred. Successful candidates are expected to develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program while also contributing to the department’s missions of service and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  Candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the university are especially encouraged to apply.

Faculty in our department have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers and benefit from unique facilities both on campus and at nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). These include the Joint Institute for Advanced Materials, Spallation Neutron Source, Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences, and other UT-ORNL Joint Institutes.
