Tenure-Track Associate or Full Professor of Chemistry
University of South Alabama

The Department of Chemistry at the University of South Alabama (USA) invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The starting date is August 15, 2020. The Department Chair is responsible for the academic, personnel, financial, and administrative needs of the Department and reports to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and should currently hold the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Specialization is open. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Other requirements for consideration include a strong research and publication record, a commitment to teaching excellence, and demonstrated administrative experience. The successful candidate must be able to work legally in the United States.

The Department of Chemistry offers an ACS-certified B.S. degree in Chemistry and a B.S. in Chemistry with a biochemistry emphasis. Over the past several years, approximately one-third of our Chemistry majors have entered the work force upon graduation, one-third have gone on to graduate school, and about one-third have been admitted to professional schools (medical, dental, etc.).
