Position Title: Department of Chemistry - Teaching Faculty The Opportunity: The Department of Chemistry at Colorado School of Mines invites applications for an anticipated full-time Teaching Professor at the assistant professor level. This is a non-tenure track position with possibility of additional summer teaching as needed. We seek candidates excited to share in our mission of addressing the challenges of a sustainable global society by educating the next generation of leading scientists and engineers by expanding the frontiers of knowledge through student centered learning. The Department emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to solving real-world problems in areas such as sustainability, alternative fuels and energy, biodetection, materials, nanomedicines and water quality assessment.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach within the general chemistry program and in the area of physical chemistry. The ability to bridge into other courses within the chemistry curriculum, such as organic chemistry is a definite plus. They will be expected to work effectively in a collegial, collaborative, interdisciplinary academic environment both within the department and across the Mines campus. In addition the successful candidate will perform service to the department and the university through involvement on committees, student advising and outreach. Candidates with experience in active learning pedagogies at the college level are highly encouraged to apply. A Ph.D in Chemistry is required.
