Position Information:

 

The department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Organic Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 18, 2020. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success.

Minimum Education and Experience:

 

The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Ph.D. in Chemistry with research experience in organic chemistry. Candidates nearing completion of the doctoral degree may be considered; however, the doctorate must be completed no later than August 17, 2020.

 

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:

 

This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. Primary teaching responsibilities involve undergraduate organic chemistry courses and labs for both science majors and non-science majors with secondary responsibilities in general chemistry courses. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department. The applicant will be expected to engage in scholarly activity in organic chemistry involving undergraduate students and to seek funding for such activities. A commitment to service is also expected at the department, college and university levels.

 

Recruitment Preferences:

 

The preferred candidate will have experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses in organic or general chemistry. Post-doctoral experience in organic chemistry, a track record of research publications, and experience pursuing external research funding is also preferred.
