The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a Distinguished Professor position in the broad area of pharmaceutical chemistry. The Linda Sayed Distinguished Professor of Chemistry is a faculty position at the rank of associate or full professor. The successful candidate is expected to maintain excellence in research with a vigorous, externally funded program, and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly in pharmaceutical chemistry. The successful candidate is also expected to have a significant influence on the development of a new Ph.D. program in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The envisioned start date for this position is August 2020.

Minimum Requirements

A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related sciences is required. In addition, significant academic and/or industrial experience is required.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Chemistry & Biochemistry at UNCW offers exciting, student oriented programs that award Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS, ACS Certified) and Master of Science (MS) degrees. A significant portion of the training takes place in our laboratories, both those associated with courses, and those involving research in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Marine and Atmospheric Science, Biochemistry, Organic and Inorganic Synthesis, Computational and Physical Chemistry, Chemical Education, all of which incorporate our state of the are instrumentation (http://www.uncw.edu/chem/ ). In addition to rigorous courses in all aspects of chemistry, most of our undergraduate students and all of our local graduate students carry out research under the direct supervision of our outstanding faculty.
