Job Details

ChiroChem (Taizhou) is seeking a creative, proactive and passionate Senior Team Leader with a background in organic/medicinal chemistry for the R&D team in Taizhou, Jiangsu. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing synthetic strategies and developing new products (especially chiral N-heterocycles). At the same time you will also be responsible for assisting the R&D and Production Manager to manage projects of the wider production team. 
Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the scientific direction of projects including design and select the synthetic routes, assign the workload to different team members and follow the project progress.

• Responsible for the line management of your team (including performance, training, appraisals and development). Responsible for project management.

• Lead safety initiatives to continue to build on the strong safety culture, deliver risk assessments and consistently demonstrate the highest standards of safety, quality and commitment to company's HSE and quality values.

Qualifications

• PhD in organic/medicinal chemistry.

• Excellent team management skills.

• Proven track record of scientific contributions including peer reviewed publications, patents and presentations.

• Experience in the synthesis of complex molecules and the development of new synthetic methodology, proficient in modern synthetic and analytical techniques.

• Outstanding broad knowledge of synthetic reagents, methodology, reaction mechanisms, reaction work-ups and isolations/purifications (chromatography, distillation, crystallization, etc.)

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Chinese and English.

You will have a strong team spirit, good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse, interdisciplinary and international teams. The ideal candidate will have previous industrial experience as team leader. Experience in asymmetric synthesis, catalysis and hydrogenation as well as experience in working with air and moisture sensitive reagents are preferred. Experience in process development with strong scale-up skills is also advantageous.
