Senior Engineer - Cell Culture Development 

Description

Job Summary:
The successful candidate will support and/or lead late stage cell culture activities including process development and improvements, process characterization and validation, support of regulatory filings, and process transfer to various manufacturing sites within the Roche network.  This role will require interaction and collaboration on innovation initiatives, technology development and process improvements. You may also support or lead inter-departmental technology and business process improvement projects.   

Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include running miniaturized and small scale experiments.  Scale-up responsibilities may include working with pilot plant and manufacturing staff to run larger scale cell culture processes, data analysis and the development of solutions to cell culture issues. This position will also require significant collaboration and interaction with colleagues in cross-functional, innovation, and digital science initiatives.

Who You Are

Qualifications/Requirements: 

• BS/MS in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering or equivalent and 8+ years industrial experience
• OR Ph.D. with 4+ years relevant industrial experience
• Basic understanding of protein expression and cell physiology and familiarity with related literature.
• Must have Design-of-Experiment (DOE) and technical writing experience.
• Good understanding of cell biology, cell metabolism and recombinant protein expression is highly desirable.
• Exposure to bioprocess engineering fundamentals, and/or process characterization and validation is also desirable. 
• Experience in miniaturized platforms, perfusion cultures, digital twin concepts, and/or cell banking technology is also desirable.
• Must have an agile mindset and be comfortable working in a dynamic, innovative, and change-oriented environment. 
• Strong team player, and have ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Be intellectually curious, self-motivated, organized, and enjoy scientific thinking, debate, and investigation.
• Act independently while also being eager to collaborate and work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills, communication, proactive attitude and excellent time management skills.
