The Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering, in the School of Natural and Applied Science at Franciscan University of Steubenville, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the area of biochemistry, biological chemistry, or chemical biology who can teach across both chemistry and biology, including foundational courses and laboratories, and can maintain an active research program that provides research experiences for undergraduate students. 

Franciscan University of Steubenville is an academically excellent and passionately Catholic university in the Franciscan tradition, located 24 miles west of Pittsburgh International Airport, in Steubenville, Ohio. The School of Natural and Applied Science is housed in Sts. Cosmas and Damian Science Hall, a 43,000 sq. ft. facility equipped with a full suite of chemical instrumentation, an animal facility, greenhouse, and both classroom and faculty laboratory space. 

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical biology, or related discipline at the time of appointment (ABD candidates will be considered) 
  • Preparedness and enthusiasm to teach a variety of courses across biochemistry, chemistry, and biology
  • Ability to contribute to teaching foundational courses in chemistry (CHM 110/115/114/118 sequence or CHM 111/116/112/117 sequence) and molecular and cell biology labs
  • Willingness to coordinate foundational lab curriculum and work closely with part-time faculty teaching these courses
  • Ability to provide research experience for undergraduates in scholarly area of interest
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and support of the Mission of the University
