Job Details

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications to fill two or more positions of Lecturer and Laboratory Director in Chemistry with a desired starting date of August 1, 2020.  We seek creative and inspirational educators who will be able to assume key roles in the department’s undergraduate chemistry program.  While we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the teaching of introductory lecture and laboratory courses in organic or analytical chemistry, we will consider applicants with backgrounds and training in all areas of chemistry.  A PhD in chemistry is required; relevant postdoctoral training or classroom teaching experience are considered as positive attributes.  The salary will be competitive and include full university benefits.  The initial appointment will be made on a one-year term with the potential for annual renewal (subject to satisfactory performance and by mutual consent).  The University of Tennessee has a Lecturer career ladder with promotions that allows appointment on multi-year contracts after five years of service.  Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, and arrange for submission of three letters of recommendation that address the applicant’s teaching skills and qualifications for the position.  Please submit all materials electronically to Dr. Charles Feigerle, Head, Department of Chemistry, cfeigerle@utk.edu.  Review of applications will begin March 9, 2020 and continue until the positions are filled.

The University of Tennessee is an EEO/AA/Title VI/Title IX/Section 504/ADA/ADEA institution in the provision of its education and employment programs and services.  All qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical or mental disability, or covered veteran status.
