Job Description

•Teach 12 contact hours per semester.

•Provide quality instruction in courses for majors and non-majors.

•Engage in research and scholarly activities consistent with the goals of the College of Science, Health, and the Environment.

•Academic advising and contributions to the department/university/community/profession.

•Continued preparation and study in field of expertise.

•Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

​•​MS in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field completed by date of appointment.

•Ability to teach Biochemistry I and II and Biochemistry lab.

•Ability to teach an advanced biochemistry techniques topics course.

•Ability to contribute to the Biochemistry and Biotechnology program.

•Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.

•Excellent communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

•Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field completed by date of appointment.

•Ability to mentor student research experiences.

•Ability to contribute to online chemistry course initiatives, including teaching Biochemistry I online.

•Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.

•Evidence of excellence in online teaching.

•Ability to teach Molecular Biophysical Chemistry.

•Experience with microbiology, organic chemistry, and/or analytical chemistry.

•Ability to teach general chemistry labs, including an interdisciplinary research-based general chemistry lab.

•Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement commensurate with the level of experience.

NINE-MONTH FACULTY APPOINTMENTS

Along with all other Universities that are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, standard faculty appointments are for 168 duty days distributed over any nine consecutive months. The nine months need not align with the traditional academic year and may be changed every two years. Initial faculty appointments at MSU Moorhead are expected to be similar to or the same as the academic year unless otherwise indicated on the vacancy notice.
