Job Details

The School of Engineering at EPFL invites applications for an industry sponsored tenure track assistant professor position in Sustainable Materials within its Institute of Materials. We seek exceptional individuals who will develop and drive a research program at the forefront of the discipline, who have strong dedication to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and who will be proactive members of their professional and university communities.

Applications are invited covering all areas of research in sustainability-related challenges in materials science, across all classes of materials. Examples of topics of interest include, but are not limited to, experimental and/or data-driven development of sustainable materials, life cycle-aware design of materials, novel approaches to processing or recycling of materials, as well as bio-sourced or biodegradable materials.

As a faculty member of the School of Engineering, the successful candidate will be expected to initiate an independent and creative research program and participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Internationally competitive salaries, start-up resources, and benefits are offered.

Applications should include a cover letter with a statement of motivation, curriculum vitae as well as a list of publications, together with the names and addresses of 3 to 5 referees. Candidates are also asked to provide a statement of teaching interests as well as their research plans, which should include a brief, one-page outline with their vision on the challenge of environmentally sustainable packaging. Applications must be uploaded in PDF format to the recruitment web site:
