Two laboratories at Johns Hopkins University and School of Medicine invite applications for a postdoctoral position in synthetic organic chemistry with a focus on synthetic approaches to high-throughput synthesis of small molecule libraries for targeting the enzyme SAMHD1.

Applications from United States citizens, permanent residents and foreign nationals who are already in the United States on a work visa are welcome, and we strongly encourage female and minority candidates to apply. Applicants from other countries will not be considered at this time because of restricted hiring due the corona virus pandemic.

Research Project

  • Two collaborating laboratories in the area of DNA repair chemistry and biology are seeking a skilled postdoctoral fellow to synthesize small molecule libraries to target SAMHD1, an integral dNTPase with DNA repair, replication and immune system functions.  This position is funded for up to four years and requires an individual with solid synthetic skills, independence and a highly collaborative nature.

The successful candidate will:

  • have strong skills in synthetic organic chemistry aimed at the synthesis of complex target molecules at the interface of organic chemistry and biology as demonstrated by first author publications;
  • hold a PhD in organic chemistry;
  • possess the ability to work independently;
  • be open to in-house collaboration;
  • have strong oral and writing skills in the English language

We offer
