The Analytical Director is a senior role leading the analytical chemistry function for the Bromine GBU.   The position leads a team of approximately chemists (~50 % with PhD) who provide analytical advice, counsel and support to new product development; process development and improvement; customer technical support; regulatory affairs and advocacy; and reactive hazards evaluation efforts.  

This position reports to the Vice President of Research and Technology and is located at our Process Development Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Essential Functions

Lead the analytical department maintaining a highly engaged team and assuring that all analytical chemistry needs of the GBU are met.   Needs will vary including routine analyses; complex method development & troubleshooting and providing unique insights to various project teams. Be a thought and practice leader for laboratory safety within the GBU and the company. Drive material expansion of online analytical applications in collaboration with process engineering leadership. Serve as an essential member of the Bromine R&T leadership team. Understand the direction of key programs and proactively develop capabilities either in house of externally to meet future needs. Support and facilitate career growth and development for each analytical team member

Required Education and Experience

Graduate degree in Chemistry or related discipline. Deep technical knowledge of analytical chemistry. At least 10 years industry experience with at least 5 of those in an administrative leadership position.

Preferred Education and Experience

PhD in analytical chemistry. Significant experience leading technical teams.  Prior proven success deploying multiple on line analytical applications to the plant environment. At least 15 years relevant industry experience. Proven project / program management experience. Foundation in operational excellence in lab environment
