Senior Formulations Scientist, Verdesian Life Sciences, RTP, NC
Verdesian Life Sciences is in search of an experienced formulation chemist with lab experience in chemical synthesis and/or colloid and interfacial chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical processing and chemical characterization to join our Research Triangle Park lab team as Senior Formulations Scientist for New Product Development. This position is responsible for early stage development of new and improved Nutrient Use Efficiency products to drive our R&D pipeline. The principal emphasis will be on conducting experimental work and applying formulation sciences to provide technical expertise, direction, and guidance on assigned research and development projects for crop nutrient use efficiency and to support product launch excellence. Essential Responsibilities:
- Product formulation, evaluation, analysis/characterization, processing and handling, and in some cases, product synthesis may be required
- Laboratory equipment set-up/construction, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Design multivariate studies for the efficient testing of various iterations of new technologies. Minimizing the path to market and maximizing the information obtained
- Develop new methods and troubleshoot existing laboratory processes and equipment issues
- Analyze experimental results, write reports, and present findings for both corporate and regulatory bodies. Report research findings for scientific and agricultural producer audiences through publications and presentations as needed
- Act as Formulations lead on early pipeline projects in cross-functional teams
- Provide technical leadership in project teams and in R&D
- Other duties not listed above as assigned by immediate supervisor

Criteria:
- Familiarity with plant nutrient use efficiency products and analytical procedures
- Ability to handle multiple projects at various stages of development with a results-oriented mindset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to independently manage daily responsibilities, be detail-oriented, and flexible in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong documentation and record keeping abilities
- Experience operating standard lab equipment and analytical instruments including ovens, mixers, grinders, reactors, spectrometers, rheometers, thermal properties and mechanical testing equipment, and others
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment
- Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of roles within the lab, including day to day operations and occasionally assisting with field trial prep, growth chambers, and greenhouses
Qualifications:
- Must have demonstrated research experience in crop nutrient management and/or agricultural formulations chemistry or related field
- Minimum education of BS with 10 years’ experience or MS degree and 5 years’ experience in agricultural chemistry, synthesis and/or formulations, PhD degree preferred
