Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the interdisciplinary area interfacing biochemistry and other core areas of chemistry, including organic, inorganic/materials, analytical, starting August 16, 2021. 

The Department offers Ph.D., M.S., B.S. and B.A. degrees in various specializations.  The selected individual will join a vibrant and interdisciplinary Department that has enjoyed continued success in obtaining major (NIH/NSF/DOE) federal funding, including 8 NSF CAREER Awardees and 1 NIH MIRA since 2000, and will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally-funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers, and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. 

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field, be able to teach biochemistry and/or other chemistry core courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must have at least one year of postdoctoral research experience, and a strong record of publications.
