Job Details
The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in organic chemistry to start in Fall 2021.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach an average of 9 contact hours per semester (lecture sections are 3 hours, lab sections are 2-4 hours), primarily in our organic chemistry sequence lecture and laboratories, as well as other advanced and introductory chemistry courses that meet departmental and institutional needs. Faculty are expected to develop an active and sustainable research program with undergraduate students and are encouraged to incorporate research in the curriculum. Other responsibilities include advising students and serving the department and college.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry or closely-related field and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Postdoctoral experience is preferred, but not required. Preference will be given to applicants who have additional expertise in bio-organic or medicinal chemistry to support our new biochemistry concentration.
