The Pravetoni lab at the University of Minnesota Medical School is seeking post-doctoral trainees interested in the development of vaccines, antibody-based therapeutics, and small molecules to counteract opioid use disorders and overdose. Our unique multidisciplinary research program integrates rational vaccine design, immunomodulators, formulation/delivery platforms, pre-clinical in vivo and in vitro models, analysis of B and T cell lymphocyte repertoire, GLP/GMP studies to support regulatory approval and clinical evaluation, and ad hoc industry collaborations. Our team is currently engaged in Phase I clinical trials targeting oxycodone and other opioids. Strategies and platforms will be applied to medication development against other unmet biological or chemical threats (e.g., COVID-19, bacterial infections).

The post-doctoral candidate should have core expertise in the conjugation of small molecules (haptens and peptides) to carriers (proteins, nanoparticles, etc,), and formulations. Other preferred skills include the ability to operate an LCMS system to analyze drug levels in biological samples and to conduct peptide analysis. We are searching a well-rounded team player interested in interfacing with multidisciplinary collaborators. Being independent, creative, flexible, self-motivated, and able to problem solve are key skills in our lab.

The University of Minnesota offers an excellent multidisciplinary training environment including various NIH-funded T32 training programs. The Pravetoni laboratory is part of the Department of Pharmacology as well as the Medical Discovery Team on Addiction and the Center for Immunology; providing a broad base of expertise and resources.

A Ph.D in Medicinal Chemistry or other related discipline (e.g., Pharmaceutics) in addition to expertise in conjugation chemistry is required. Expertise in vaccine development, antibody engineering, LCMS operation, and peptide analysis is preferred.
