The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science (CES) at New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of chemical biology, broadly defined, starting in the Fall of 2021. The candidate should utilize chemical methods to investigate and manipulate biological systems. Particular areas of interest include advanced materials, synthetic biology, and biotechnology and will capitalize on NJIT's substantial investment in cell and gene therapy.

CES is within the College of Science and Liberal Arts and is committed to exceptional core education in liberal arts and excellence in research and scholarship.  Many resources, facilities, and collaboration opportunities exist with the Department, College, University, and neighboring institutions.  Competitive salary, startup funds, and laboratory space will be provided.  Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, molecular biology, or a closely related field and relevant postdoctoral research experience. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active, externally funded research program and to demonstrate excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching in chemistry, biochemistry, and related science programs.

The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science (http://chemistry.njit.edu) offers degrees in Chemistry (BS, MS, and Ph.D.), Biochemistry (BS), Pharmaceutical Chemistry  (MS), Cell and Gene Therapy Sciences (PMS), and Environmental Science degrees (BS, MS, and Ph.D.), and Forensic Science (BS).
