What We’re Looking For
The Instrumentation Specialist in the Baylor Science Building (BSB) will interface with scientific instrumentation and computing operators to support Baylor's research initiatives. This position directly reports to the Director’s Office of the BSB and will work closely with researchers, lab personnel, service engineers, contractors, and vendors to keep and maintain instrumentation. The Instrumentation Specialist will support the core facilities as well as researchers using complex scientific instrumentation. This position is a key component in Baylor's research programs' rapid development of research and growing technology needs.
• Experience working with scientific instruments and computing operations (i.e. - HPLC Spectrometers)
• Experience working with budgets and maintaining inventory
• Ability to work well with all levels of internal staff, faculty, and vendors
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
• Accurately estimates timelines and meets deadlines
• Quick thinker with superb attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proactive problem solver
A Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A doctoral degree in Chemistry, Physics, and other science-related degrees and five years of relevant work experience are preferred.

What You Will Do
• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of major instruments and equipment
• Provide technical support for specialized computers, operating systems, and scientific instrumentation
• Serve as a technology resource for faculty, staff, and students and conduct training sessions as needed
• Oversee daily laboratory operations and quality control
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all instrumentation
• Assist in budget preparation related to equipment and instruments
• Analyze data and prepare reports as needed
• Work as needed with outside contractors, vendors, engineers and other personnel as necessary
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
• Ability to comply with University policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
