ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR - MECHANOBIOLOGY/COMPUTATIONAL - CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
The College of Engineering Department of Chemical Engineering and the College of Science Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology invite applications for a joint faculty member in computational modeling related to multiscale mechanobiology, cell-cell, or cell-substrate interfaces. The appointment will be in a tenure-track line of open rank, at the assistant, associate, or full level, on the Boston campus. Junior candidates will be assigned senior faculty mentors to support the candidate’s professional development and the ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development offers additional resources and affinity groups for faculty across the campus to support a healthy work-life balance and diversity and inclusion in the faculty.
The Departments of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry and Chemical Biology have active research programs spanning energy & sustainability, materials & nanotechnology, healthcare, complex/computational systems, and structural and molecular biology. Faculty within the two Departments have fruitful collaborations with various hospitals, universities, companies, and research facilities in the greater Boston area that add to the vibrancy of our programs and training of our students. Northeastern faculty utilize Discovery, a high-performance computing resource housed in the Massachusetts Green High-Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC) in Holyoke, MA.
Faculty responsibilities include: developing and sustaining an externally-sponsored research program, advising students, developing and teaching Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Chemical Biology courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and being involved in service to Northeastern and the profession. It is expected that each faculty member supports an inclusive environment both within their research laboratory and in their classrooms.
Successful candidates must have a doctorate in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by the appointment start date. Senior-level candidates must have a demonstrated record of funded and collaborative research, recognition for accomplished teaching, and a track record in service and supporting or leading efforts for inclusion and diversity. Junior applicants should demonstrate the ability to develop an innovative, externally funded, and collaborative research program. As education is a cornerstone of our Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, a candidate who can describe their experience and ability to engage trainees both in and out of the classroom is preferred.

The Chemical Engineering Department (www.northeastern.edu/che) at Northeastern University comprises one of the most diverse chemical engineering faculty in the nation with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion. CCB enrolls approximately 150 undergraduate majors; 27 M.S. and PlusOne (BS/MS) students; and 80 Ph.D. students.
