Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a tenure-track, faculty position within the Chemistry department to start August 1, 2021. The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees both in Chemistry and Biochemistry, with curricula designed to meet the needs of students interested in chemistry, biochemistry, or pre-health professions. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utica College is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS), and grants ACS certified degrees. We are well-equipped with modern instrumentation and recently renovated laboratory spaces, and offer startup funds to support faculty research. The successful candidate should have research interests that mesh well some part of our established instrument suite. Recent acquisitions in the last five years include a 400 MHz NMR and a completely remodeled modern synthesis laboratory. New analysis and biochemistry labs are currently under construction as part of a new addition to the science center and will be ready for occupation in the fall of 2021.

Responsibilities of the position involve teaching four lectures or laboratories each semester, including both entry-level and upper-level courses, as well as establishing a research program that includes directing undergraduate students. Candidates must have or be near a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a related chemical science by August 2021 and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education.
