Job Details

The School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a non-tenure-track position of Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry on the Hattiesburg Campus to begin in August 2021. The position is oriented towards effective instruction in freshman and sophomore chemistry classes and laboratories, supervision and coordination of chemistry laboratories, and student advisement. There is no research requirement. A Master’s Degree (for appointment at the rank of Instructor) or Doctorate (for appointment at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor) in Chemistry or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry is required by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate must be able to engage in effective teaching.
 

Responsibilities include teaching 12 semester credit hours of freshman and sophomore Chemistry courses, curriculum development and recruitment, service commensurate with expectations of all faculty, and teaching of on-line Chemistry courses and labs as needed. Experience in college teaching, Chemistry Education, on-line education, Organic Chemistry or recruitment will be considered positively.
