Position Overview
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at The University of Kansas (Lawrence) invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate should have established research interest in the design, delivery, biophysical characterization and/or analysis of vaccines, therapeutic biologics or therapeutic proteins.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is one of four departments (with the other being Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Pharmacy Practice) in the School of Pharmacy of The University of Kansas.

Job Description
The Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry will be expected to:
40% - Teaching
- Teach at both the undergraduate level in the School of Pharmacy and the graduate level in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in their area of expertise.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students (M.S., Ph.D.) and postdoctoral associate in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
40% - Research
- Establish a well-funded and productive research program in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
- Develop into a leader and catalyst in their field of expertise for the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and the School of Pharmacy.
- Participate in the activities of the Kansas Vaccine Institute (KVI).
- Participate in the Globalization of Pharmaceutical Education Network (GPEN).
20% - Service
- Provide service at a local, state, national and international level
Required Qualifications
- A Doctorate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related discipline such as e.g., Chemistry Biochemistry, Molecular Biosciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Bioengineering.
- Demonstrated research interests in the design, delivery, biophysical characterization and/or analysis of vaccines, therapeutic biologics or therapeutic proteins. Communication of interest or future interest in innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Strong commitment to the maintenance of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.
- Ability to foster and maintain collegial relationships with students, support staff, faculty and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of interest in collaborative research.
- Interested in training graduate students, postdocs, and visiting scientists.
