Job Details

The School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) at Oregon State University, located in Corvallis, Oregon, is seeking to fill a full-time (1.00 FTE), tenure-track, 9-month assistant professor position in chemical engineering to begin September 16, 2021. 

The position requires a B.S. degree in chemical engineering, and a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field, by the start of employment. Expertise in any area of chemical engineering (or related fields) will be considered, but ideally the applicant’s expertise will align with one or more of the following strategic research areas: clean energy and water, advanced chemical processes, and health-related engineering. These may include, but are not limited to, advanced materials, bioprocessing, computational methods including artificial intelligence, and any emerging area of chemical engineering. The successful candidate must have academic preparation to teach courses in the chemical engineering undergraduate curriculum, such as material & energy balances, transport phenomena, thermodynamics, reaction engineering, unit operations, chemical plant design, and process control. Opportunities also exist to teach more introductory and advanced courses in the chemical engineering undergraduate and graduate program curricula.

The recently constructed Johnson Hall contains state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities and houses the school of CBEE (currently 33 faculty). CBEE is known for being a hub for innovation in education and research for the process engineering sciences, emphasizing the integration of chemical engineering, bioengineering, and environmental engineering principles. The School is part of the NSF - National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure and has strong relationships with the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnology Institute, the OSU Materials Synthesis and Characterization Facility, the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Institute, the Center for Genome Research and Biocomputing, the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine, the OSU Center for Research on Lifelong STEM Learning, the RAPID Manufacturing Institute, and high-tech industries in Oregon.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a sustainable and nationally-recognized research program.
