The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Baker University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position starting August, 2021. Teaching responsibilities include Organic Chemistry with labs and Biochemistry. Experience with chemical instrumentation is a plus. Contribution to the general education program by teaching science to non-majors is expected. The successful applicant will also be expected to mentor undergraduate research projects in his or her area of expertise, participate in academic advising of students, serve the university through committee work, and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development and teaching excellence.

Baker University began its liberal arts tradition in 1858 as the first university in Kansas. The campus is located 45 minutes west of Kansas City and 15 minutes south of Lawrence, Kansas. The chemistry laboratories are located in a recently renovated science building, and we are fortunate to be able to provide funding for student research projects.

Qualifications: A PhD in either organic chemistry or biochemistry is required. Post-doctoral experience is viewed as an advantage. The successful candidate should have demonstrated an interest in and an aptitude for teaching undergraduates.
