Entegris is seeking an Manager, Analytical R&D Operations who is responsible for implementing and providing support for the Specialty Chemical and Engineered Materials Analytical Services team located in Burnet, TX.  Reporting to the Director of Analytical Services you will manage the daily operational and administrative functions, activities, and technical projects of the Burnet, TX Analytical Services R&D team. You will also be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training personnel on analytical testing and services. In line with our values, which is fostering an environment of teamwork you will have an opportunity to collaborate with technicians, scientists, applications engineers, local management, sales & marketing, as well as global technical team members on new product development.

The ideal candidate will be results oriented and an excellent team player, with solid knowledge of analytical chemistry, materials science & physics, and familiarity with semiconductor device materials, structures, and metrology.

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for the technical and managerial leadership of the analytical R&D laboratory team in Burnet, TX
  • Lead a diverse team of chemists, scientists and technicians to optimize performance while coaching and developing individuals within the team;
  • Creates and leads an empowered workforce that is focused on continuous improvement and achieves performance through sustainable productivity improvements;
  • Enhance laboratory productivity and profitability by forecasting accurate and realistic annual operating and capital equipment budgets
  • Reduce laboratory operating expenses, while maintaining or improving overall quality and service, by identifying and leveraging incentives with vendors to acquire new products or services for the laboratory
  • Initiate, document and review Performance Management activities for the laboratory staff
  • Use product and testing expertise to collaborate with internal and external customers to determine root causes in product development and quality problems
  • Respond to customers’ feedback on technical problems and improve product value as well as customer satisfaction
  • Continuous training on the various analytical techniques and methods

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • Master of Science in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Engineering required, PhD preferred
  • Lab instrument (ICP-MS, ICP-AES, KF Titration, HPLC, IC, and FTIR) operations and maintenance experience preferred
  • LIMS set up and administration experience
  • Prior experience managing laboratory services in a chemical / gas manufacturing environment
  • Hands on experience with applicable quality tools such as pareto, FMEA’s, SPC/SQC, histograms, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, cause and effect diagrams, 8D problem solving methodology
  • Strong hands on expertise in chemical analysis related to blended cleans and advanced deposition materials
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Mandarin or Korean is a plus
  • Ability to travel 15% of time, some international    

Your success will be measured by:

  • Supports divisional product development and R&D efforts by developing and implementing test methods to support new product development
  • Improving laboratory consistency and quality ISO compliance by creating and revising laboratory policies and procedure
  • Continued administration of the R&D LIMS system
  • Enable new testing initiatives as they relate to the customer, corporate objectives, quality planning, the quality policy, process improvement and new business goals and objectives.  
  • Uses proper controls for analytical instrumentation, validates and verifies data and takes corrective action when necessary
  • Confers with process engineers, development scientists, and manufacturing personnel regarding results and research, prepares technical reports and presentations to promote learning
  • Ability to conduct projects independently and navigate ambiguity
  • Strong independent operation skills and ability to complete lab work safely
  • The ability to influence decisions across multiple layers of the organization;
  • A commitment to achieving and sustaining operational excellence;
  • A track record of selecting top talent and developing an effective team
