Postdoctoral Associate

One postdoctoral researcher position is available to work on a NIH/NIEHS-funded multidisciplinary project related to the nanotechnology-enhanced biodegradation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) at the University at Buffalo (SUNY).

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Dr. Diana Aga from the Department of Chemistry, and Drs. Nirupam Aich and Ian Bradley from the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering.

Excellent opportunities will be provided to advance the candidate’s academic career by learning to:

Synthesize and characterize catalytic nanohybrid materials;

Employ various molecular biology techniques for identifying and isolating microbes capable of PFAS biodegradation;

Use advanced mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques to elucidate PFAS degradation mechanisms;

Mentor graduate and undergraduate research students;

Write project reports and peer-reviewed scientific publications;

Present results at scientific conferences and stakeholder meetings.

This position will have an initial appointment period of one-year with possibility to extend for an additional year, depending on funding availability and performance of the candidate.
