The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) is searching for a postdoctoral fellow to assist the Ion Cyclotron Resonance (ICR) Program instrumentation group.   The ideal candidate for this postdoctoral position will be a scientist with experience in the field of mass spectrometry with a record of significant scholarly activity.   Experience in mass spectrometry applications and/or software development for mass spectrometry data analysis is desired. 

The postdoctoral fellow will work with the FT-ICR Facility permanent staff to implement a novel data-independent analysis pipeline for the flagship 21 Tesla FT-ICR MS and help develop downstream software to analyze the data in collaboration with the MacCoss Laboratory at the University of Washington.  The candidate will collaborate with NHMFL and MacCoss laboratory staff.  Travel funds have been allocated for an extended learning/collaboration opportunity to perform research at the University of Washington within the MacCoss Laboratory.  Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in a relevant field.

The NHMFL is the world’s premier magnet laboratory with state-of-the-art high magnetic field facilities (up to 21T in superconducting magnets, 36T in resistive DC magnets, 45T in hybrid DC magnets, and 100T in pulsed magnets) for research in physics, materials science, engineering, chemistry geochemistry, biochemistry, and biology.
