The University of Akron Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall Semester of 2021. The department welcomes candidates in all areas of Physical Chemistry (experimental and computational) including Physical Organic, Physical Inorganic, and Biophysical Chemistry.  The new faculty member will establish a strong, externally funded research program in the area of Physical Chemistry; teach graduate and undergraduate classes; mentor undergraduate and Ph.D. students in research; and contribute to the functioning of the department, college, university and community through service on committees and participation in departmental activities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; demonstrated active research experience in the study of Physical Chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience during postdoctoral research in an academic or industrial setting; and research plans that complement existing strengths in the department and University community.  Experience past the doctoral degree may be waived for exceptional candidates.
