The Illinois Institute of Technology Department of Chemistry invites applications from outstanding candidates to fill a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the areas of Biological Chemistry or Materials Chemistry starting Fall 2021. A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a highly related field is required. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, innovative, and externally funded research program and to effectively teach graduate and undergraduate courses. The Department of Chemistry at Illinois Tech recently launched 5 new Chemistry Programs in specialized and interdisciplinary areas (https://www.iit.edu/chemistry). Candidates with teaching interest in analytical chemistry or other courses related to the new chemistry majors are strongly encouraged to apply.

Founded in 1901, the ChBE Department at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is home to one of the oldest chemical engineering programs in the nation and is proud of its many contributions to education and research, its distinguished current and former faculty, and its several successful alumni. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemical, biological and food process engineering. It currently has 14 tenure/tenure-track faculty members,140 undergraduate students, and 180 graduate students. The department faculty actively participates in multi-disciplinary research activities via multiple research centers and three research institutes in the university.
