Job Details

Visiting Assistant Professors of Chemistry (Physical and Organic Chemistry): The Hamilton College Chemistry Department invites applications for two one-year Visiting Assistant Professor positions beginning July 1, 2021, with the possibility of reappointment for a second year.  The teaching load for each position is five courses, including laboratories.  Teaching responsibilities for the Physical Chemistry position might include courses and laboratories in Physical Chemistry I and II, Physical Methods for Chemical Analysis, Principles of Chemistry, and an advanced course in the candidate’s area of expertise; teaching responsibilities for the Organic Chemistry position might include courses and laboratories in Organic Chemistry, Research Methods in Chemistry, and an advanced course in the candidate’s area of expertise.  The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to mentor student research projects. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry and be committed to undergraduate education, have interest in teaching a diverse student population, and demonstrate excellence, or the potential for excellence, in teaching undergraduates.  Postdoctoral experience is desired, but not required. Company

Hamilton College is a small, highly selective liberal arts college located in Upstate New York. The Chemistry Department has seven tenure track positions and graduates approximately fifteen Chemistry majors per year. The department also jointly administers a Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major and a Chemical Physics major. The department is housed in the Taylor Science Center which opened in 2005 and provides excellent facilities for teaching and research. Extensive equipment holdings include a Bruker 500 MHz NMR, a Finnigan LCQ LC/MS and a Jasco CD spectrometer. The College provides generous matching support for grants and also has significant funds to support summer research stipends for undergraduate students.
